Every month in Nascar’s schedule has a unique personality. Whether it’s the race tracks in that month or the type of action the month has in store. I believe Nascar’s best month is May. This year especially with the addition of Talladega to the first week of May. The month of May in Nascar consist of Nascar traveling to fan favorite tracks like Talladega, Darlington and Charlotte for two weekends.
Fans look forward to the return of pack racing at Talladega, the “Lady in Black” a.k.a Darlington which provides great racing at a fan favorite track. Then the festivities of All-Star weekend which are considered one of the best weeks in motorsports. Then to top the month off we have one of the best races, the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte. The Charlotte Motor Speedway puts on a great Memorial Day Weekend which drives fans back each year. Every fan looks forward to the All-Star race each year. They race has brought incredible finishes and exciting action.
The 2005 All-Star race brought some incredible action with a last lap incident in the “Nextel Open” now the “Sprint Showdown” when Brian Vickers spun Mike Bliss out allowing Vickers to advance to the All-Star race later that day. Then in the All-Star race the “Big One’ had tempers flailing when Joe Nemechek and Kevin Harvick got into a scuffle. Then Mark Martin prevailed to win the race.
Over the years the month of May has brought out the best racing action we see on the Nascar schedule. And in 2012 we could be in store for the best racing action we’ve seen in a long while. This upcoming weekend at Talladega we’ll see the return of the famed pack racing that was absent in 2011. Then on to Darlington with the great racing and close to the wall racing which features drivers getting their famed “Darlington Stripe.” Nascar Personnel return home to Charlotte for two weeks.
The All-Star race festivities start off the two-week Charlotte home stand including the Pit-Crew Challenge that has grown into a fan favorite event. Then the longest and one of the most popular races of the year in the Coca-Cola 600 finishes the month off. These races will bring great racing and phenomenal finishes which will keep fans coming back to the tracks in the month of May.
This is a month in Nascar in where everything seems more relaxed and exciting. After the lack of excitement in the month of April, the month of May will have fans and Nascar personnel remembering why they love this sport. Without a doubt the month of May is the best in Nascar, this month will set the tone for the rest of the season. Track owners won’t even consider digging their tracks up to get more fans and better racing. The drivers will provide great action and great races throughout Nascar’s best month of May.
