The monster every driver dreams of taming is at Dover. This monster likes to throw wild and unexpected blows which have been known to ruin a driver’s day. Last year, Jimmie Johnson was able to conquer the Monster Mile in a dominating performance and he hopes to accomplish the same feat this weekend. Trouble lies around every corner at Dover and it is the classic fate of the track that could either make or break your day in a matter of seconds.

Race day at Dover will be taking place on Sunday, June 2, 2013 and the green flag is expected to wave at 1:15 PM EST. The race will be made up of 400 laps and 400 miles around Dover’s high concrete banking. Sunday’s weather forecast is predicted to be partly cloudy with a high of 85 F and a 0% chance of rain. You can watch the race on TV during FOX’s final race broadcast of the season or listen to it on the radio on MRN.

When the Cup Series rolled into the Delaware’s capital last year, Jimmie Johnson and his rainbow-afro dominated the event and he cruised to a commanding victory. The race was nothing but a 5-time show and he put his prowess on display throughout the event. A repeat is exactly what he’ll be looking for on Sunday and whether he gets it or not will be determined how well he can make up for his poor qualifying run in which he placed 24th.

Dover has been friendly to the Toyota Camp over the past few seasons. They always seem to run well during the race and usually are contending for the win. Some Toyota drivers you’ll have to watch out for this weekend include Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, and Matt Kenseth. Any of those guys could be celebrating in victory lane by the time the race is over. Kevin Harvick will be shooting for his third win of the season this weekend after he picked up his second last weekend at Charlotte so he is another driver you’ll have to watch out for.

Mr. Dominance still leads the point’s standings after Charlotte where he was involved in an accident. Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth continue to follow Johnson, but they’ll need five-time to make a few more mistakes before they’re able to take-over the top spot. A win this weekend for Martin Truex Jr. could mean a lot since he desperately needs it to keep himself in Chase contention. Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch, and Jeff Gordon are also a few drivers who need to be looking for a win since one could help their wild-card situation tremendously.

Bizarre things can happen at Dover. Miles the Monster likes to collect race cars in random ways throughout the race and the only way to remain in it at the end is to stay on the Monster’s good side. This concrete jungle can tear up cars and parts, but it never can tear up a driver’s hopes at winning. Staying up front and maintaining that will be the keys to victory on Sunday and only one driver will successfully achieve that. It’ll be wild and crazy, but it’s Dover and this race will surely be one that you cannot miss.
