Paint Scheme Report: Atlanta Motor Speedway

PaintSchemeReportA new feature to Turn 4 Racing News, the “Paint Scheme Report” will depict which cars came to the track looking great and which ones did not. This social media driven report will use pictures found on twitter and discuss what’s great or not so great about the different schemes.

NASCAR is at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend for a Labor Day Weekend showdown. This long and grueling 500-mile night race will test a driver in ways that most events can’t. Night races are a great platform  for sponsors to put a new look on the car and gain some attention and many teams are doing exactly that.

The Good

Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s No. 17 Fifth Third Bank Ford Fushion

The combination of blue and green in this Fifth Third Bank paint scheme look great. The No. 17 team puts great schemes on the track every week and this is no exception. It will shine brightly under the lights on Sunday night.

Michael McDowell’s No. 95 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ford Fushion

For the second consecutive week, Michael McDowell and Leavine Family Racing have found themselves on “The Good” list. This week, a very creative No. 95 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ford Fushion scheme lands them there. The Ninja Turtles are placed perfectly around the car and the orange across the hood will look great under the lights.

Carl Edwards’ No. 99 Subway Ford Fushion

In the select races that Carl Edwards competes in a Subway-sponsored car, it always looks great. Neon colors really make cars stand out and typically look very good. This yellow scheme will look fast under the lights.

The Good: Honorable Mention

Chris Buescher’s No. 60 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ford Fushion

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s No. 88 National Guard Chevrolet SS

The Bad

Regan Smith’s No. 7 Tax Slayer Bowl Chevrolet SS

This scheme barely makes “The Bad” list. Although JR Motorsports nailed portions of it, the overall look doesn’t flow well. Its a football-inspired scheme so maybe having green (for grass) as the primary color would work better.

A.J Allmendinger’s No. 47 Hungry Jack Chevrolet SS

The No. 47 team swung and missed on this week’s scheme. The combination of white, orange, and yellow typically doesn’t work too well and it didn’t in this case. However, it won’t matter how the car looks because all this team has to focus on is preparing for their first appearance in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Check back next week for a look at the paint schemes that will run at Richmond International Raceway.

  1. I’m still hoping that GM Goodwrench hops on with Autin Dillon for just one race. Love seeing the 3 car on the track!!!!!
